The Malaysian Association of Modern Languages Committee Meeting was held on 3 June 2016. After this meeting, the Secretary of the association had distributed donation forms to all the members of the association as well as to individuals or organisations for donations in kind (clothes, food etc.) or cash, to be given to the orphans, single mothers, OKU as well as to the senior citizens in Rumah Titian Kasih.
The collection of these donations was carried out from 8 June until 17 June 2016. Three members of the association involved in the collection of the above donations were Assoc. Prof Dr Hajah Jariah Mohd Jan (President of the Association), Mdm Hajah Siti Rohana Mohd Thani (Honorary Secretary of the Association), and Mdm Noor Aishah Salleh (Association committee member).
Among the collection in kind were clothes, non-perishable food, electrical appliances and cash totalling RM3125.00. The Association is very grateful to all the individuals and organisations who had donated graciously.
On 17 June 2016, a few of the committee members and students of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics volunteered to wrap the donated items. Those involved were Assoc. Prof Dr Jariah Mohd Jan (President of the Association), Mdm Ainun Rozana Mohd Zaid (Vice-President of the Association), Mdm Hajah Siti Rohana Mohd Thani (Honorary Secretary of the Association), Mdm Noor Aishah Salleh (Committee member of the Association), Ms Hajah Norafidah Tajuddin (Committee member of the Association), and three students from FLL. The association extends its thank you wishes to all of them.
The visit to Rumah Titian Kasih, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur was carried out on 20 June 2016. Those involved in this visit were six members of the Association (Assoc Prof Dr Jariah Mohd Jan, Mdm Ainun Rozana Mohd Zaid, Mdm Hjh Siti Rohana Mohd Thani, Ms Hjh Norafidah Tajuddin, Dr Baljit Kaur Surjit Singh and Mdm Sathiadevi Kanagasabai), two students from FLL and Mr. Roslan. Two RTM officers were also invited to this event. This event was recorded and later telecast on Rancangan Selamat Pagi Malaysia (SPM).
The residents of Rumah Titian Kasih consist of babies to children of 17 years of age (20 children), 85 single mothers, 51 OKU, and 12 senior citizens. Although the visit was only around two hours, the members of the association managed to have a close communication with the manager, Mdm Sharifah Adlan and mingled with the rest of the residents.
